FAQs

What is the number of ‘Hours’ displayed on my pay advice slip?

Each of your pay advice slips includes an entry called ‘Hours’, which shows how many hours you worked in the period covered by your payment. We get this information from your recruitment agencies.

This is quite a new thing.  It’s only since April 2019 that employers have been required to display the number of hours an employee has worked on their payslip, and it only applies to those – such as many contractors – whose pay varies depending on the amount of time they work. This requirement came about via an amendment to the Employment Rights Act 1996.
